Creativity can come in all shapes and sizes.

For some it’s painting, for others it’s photography, building, designing, illustrating – the list goes on. But for Dublin based Irish artist, Rob Crane, creativity comes from finding recycled materials and combining them to create the ultimate “army of beer can creatures”. Yep, you read that correctly.

Rob uses recycled materials to make mini (and often times, not so mini) sculptures. The reason behind it? There is none. “It’s ridiculous, it’s light” but it’s creative and it highlights the power of recycling.

“I don’t focus on the wholesome subject matter, instead I focus on an army of bad mouthed beer can creature mess ups.”
“I’m happy ticking away, making and working on various projects. I’m happy to make art full stop. It’s a privilege and creative release. I think my work speaks for itself, good or bad.”

We’re massive fans of Rob’s work and even bigger fans of his way of thinking. Sometimes there is no reasoning behind creativity. Sometimes, the only reason to create is for the sheer fun of it.

Discover more of Rob’s work on his Instagram @Robaleano “which is always a good time” or on his website. Let us know which beer can creation is your favourite and feel free to send us on your work for our next Artist Spotlight!
